True story!!
This is why Neil Patrick Harris is so awesome.
Mostly tech stuff, some memories.
I’m 32 years old. I’ve made some mistakes in my life. But I just realized the first time I ever drew a Triforce wasn’t anything to do with Zelda but when mapping out a network forest trust. Dang it.
Stranger: Fuckin Obama, 2014 is the year he gets impeached.
Me: Why do you say that?
Stranger: Obama care is ruining America, I got a medical degree and I can’t find a job.
Me: How long have you been looking?
Stranger: A few years now, it fuckin sucks.
Me: That is pretty shitty, what have you been doing for work in the mean time?
Stranger: Man, I have a medical degree, why would I do something besides be a doctor?
Me: I have no idea, to pay rent, put food on the table, pay bills?
Stranger: Nah, I live with my parents, they cover that.
Me: How old are you?
Stranger: 23.
Me: Dang, if you’re a doctor at 23 how old were you when you graduated?
Stranger: I got my GED when I was 21.
Me: Explain medical degree.
Stranger: I went to college and got my ASN. That’s a medical degree.
Me: I think you have a thing to become a nurse.
Stranger: No. I’m a doctor.
Me: Well I’m going to go.
I had a dream that I was on cleanup at a fair and there were a bunch of people being extremely racist, going multiple ways. Cops were trying to settle things down then Volz showed up in full military gear shooting up the place with rock salt rounds and flash grenades. Then he saw me and threw a flash grenade at me with the pin to chunk then a second without the pin. He yelled oh shit and waved to run. I fumbled for it then woke up and grabbed my stuffed animal and threw it across the room.
These dudes are fucking legit. They don’t just show up one day in court, either, they actually make friends with the kids and let them know they have a support system and that there are people in the world who care about them and will always have their back. And less important, but also cool, is that the few times a couple of them have come into my cafe, they’ve been super friendly and polite and when I told one of the guys that I noticed his Bikers Against Child Abuse patch and wanted him to know how awesome I thought he was because of it, he got kind of shy and blushed and said, “The kids are the awesome ones, we just let them know they’re allowed to be brave.”
Creativity at it’s finest.
